D'aprรจs Ibn 'Abbรขs : 'Umar dit : ยซ Je crains qu'aprรจs qu'un long temps se soit รฉcoulรฉ, les gens ne disent : Nous ne trouvons pas les Versets du Rajam (lapidation ร mort) dans le Livre Saint, et par consรฉquent ils pourraient s'รฉgarer en abandonnant une obligation qu'Allah a rรฉvรฉlรฉe. Attention ! Je confirme que la peine du Rajam doit รชtre infligรฉe ร celui qui commet des rapports sexuels illรฉgaux, s'il est dรฉjร mariรฉ et que le crime est prouvรฉ par des tรฉmoins ou une grossesse ou un aveu. ยป Sufyรขn ajouta : ยซ J'ai mรฉmorisรฉ cette narration de cette maniรจre. ยป 'Umar ajouta : ยซ Assurรฉment, le Messager d'Allah (ุตูู ุงููู ุนููู ูุณูู
) a exรฉcutรฉ la peine du Rajam, et nous l'avons fait aprรจs lui. ยป
`Umar said, "I am afraid that after a long time has passed, people may say, "We do not find the Verses
of the Rajam (stoning to death) in the Holy Book," and consequently they may go astray by leaving an
obligation that Allah has revealed. Lo! I confirm that the penalty of Rajam be inflicted on him who
commits illegal sexual intercourse, if he is already married and the crime is proved by witnesses or
pregnancy or confession." Sufyan added, "I have memorized this narration in this way." `Umar added,
"Surely Allah's Messenger (๏ทบ) carried out the penalty of Rajam, and so did we after him."
